I want worms!!

In my garden of course. I've spent the last 3 weekends in my yard and I am LOVING it!! I even bought some pots to put on my front steps with my own concoction of foliage and flowers. I especially love my Wondering Jews. They seriously sparkle! I've got some in a pot and in water (I want to see if they grow that way - my grandma does it all the time with one of her vines). I also planted a braided hibiscus tree (in a pot). Anyway, we planted our grass today and my beans, zucchini, cucumbers, lettuce, and sun flowers have spouted! I was getting nervous.

Anyway, back to the worms. I want to make a worm bin. A friend of ours has one and her plants are growing like weeds! It will cut down on garbage and provide a good organic fertilizer for out vegetable garden. I will keep you updated on my new project. If you're interested, here are some links:

Our goal is to have no garbage only compost materials and recyclables.

It is a great goal - the problem we run into are the garbage items that are not accepted by our recycling program. They only take plastic number 1 and 2 - so we have to throw out the ones that are not those numbers and that always annoys me because they are sometimes really big things like detergent bottles. So I switched to powder soap and then I can recycle the box and my garage smells really nice for a few days!

wow, your thing only takes 1 and 2? Thats crazy! You should find a place that will take it if you drop it off. Our place takes 1-6...no 7 which is annoying because it is mostly baby food plastics and yogurts...some are 6 now!
